As the weather heats up, how will you make your summer more sustainable? Share your tips for beating the heat, going on vacation, or having fun with the kids this summer while making better choices for the environment! Personally, I keep all the blinds closed in my apartment during the day when no one is home to keep the rooms cool. Then I don't need air conditioning in the evening! I keep all blinds closed to keep it dark and cool. I only use the air during the day and shut it off at night!

We are using our bikes more often. It doesn't take that much more time, there is usually parking (bike racks) right at the door so it is very convenient, and great exercise.

One of the ways to help is to use your bbq more and keep the heat from your stove to a miniumum.A dehumidifer will lower the temp in a room by about 10 degrees. I also don't drink bottled water (it has no health benefits). If you lower your thermostat by only 2 degrees you will save power and still keep your house cool.Go camping lots! You will save money enjoy time with loved ones and not have to aircondition your house when you're away.

I too keep the blinds closed and the lights off.We never use the A/C unless it's absoulty nessary then it's only on long enough to cool the room down for sleeping . I always use the BBQ and try to make a lot of no bake dishes . We spend most of our time out doors on the patio. When doing laundry I hang it out to dry , no need for the dryer when the suns out .Saves you $$$$ and smells great !
