Welcome statement & Purpose

Welcome to the airmiles.ca Community. The following Guidelines are meant to explain how to use the Community section of airmiles.ca, and outline both acceptable and unacceptable behaviors within the Community. We reserve the right to change these Guidelines at any time. The airmiles.ca Community brings together people who collect AIR MILES reward miles (Collectors) and allows them to share common experiences and learn how to get the most out of the Program.

Where appropriate, AIR MILES Community Moderators may answer questions and assist users, but they may not have time to fully research answers before posting. Accordingly, the Forums are not a substitute for contacting AIR MILES Customer Care. Contact Us.

If you have a question or concern pertaining to a specific Sponsor or Supplier which is unrelated to the AIR MILES Reward Program, please contact the respective Sponsor/Supplier customer service, who will be best equipped to assist.

Getting Started

We encourage new Members to browse the Community before making their first Post to familiarize themselves with the various categories of forums and the different areas of the Community where they can contribute. Visit the "Getting Started" page for more information.

When posting for the first time, Collectors are required to register in the Community by creating a profile. Access to the Profile will require a valid 11 digit Collector ID and 4 digit PIN, and after initial login and set up, it will be required each time the user wishes to post.

The Community profile requires a unique screen name and an email address (so that we can contact Members about their posts if required). Each unique screen name can only be linked to one Collector Account.

Posting and Commenting

We are a self-monitored Community. Members have the opportunity to post content, and also are responsible for reporting offensive or inappropriate content. AIR MILES Moderators do not pre-screen or review comments before posting. However we reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Guidelines or the airmiles.ca website Terms & Conditions. Community Moderators will review any content reported as inappropriate and determine whether it should be removed from the site, and may or may not give a reason or explanation for the removal of content. Occasionally Moderators may choose to communicate privately with Members (via email) about their Posts.

Examples of actions/posts that will be removed and may incur disciplinary action:

  • 1. Deliberately misquoting others
  • 2. Using the AIR MILES Community for commercial purposes, including advertising, promotion, junk mail or 'spamming'
  • 3. Personal attacks or threats on other members, groups, Sponsors or Suppliers of the AIR MILES Reward Program. Personal attacks of any sort are uncalled for and will not be tolerated
  • 4. Posting, sending or linking to content that is harmful, threatening, unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, inflammatory, harassing, vulgar, obscene, offensive fraudulent, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable
  • 5. Posting, sending or linking to content that would constitute, encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense, violate the rights of any party, or that would otherwise create liability or violate any law

AIR MILES reserves the right to restrict user access or remove users from the Community for violating these Guidelines.

Moderators, Community Managers and Sponsors may contribute to Discussions just as Members do and are held to the same standards and Community Guidelines as Members.

Members are encouraged to stay on topic, and should be aware that Moderators may move posts to other Categories or close threads that have become inactive.

Get to Know the Moderators

AIR MILES Community Moderators will be clearly identified (with the word "Moderator" next to their screen name) within the Community. They will review content flagged as inappropriate and may provide assistance or answer questions posted by Members when appropriate. AIR MILES employees who are not assigned as Moderators are not authorized to represent themselves on the Forum as Moderators.

Links to Other Websites and Content

Members can post hyperlinks to external websites within their posts. However, members should be aware that the linked sites are not reviewed or endorsed by AIR MILES. Members should use their own judgment before posting a link to an external site. Links within a post are subject to the same treatment as the rest of the content on the AIR MILES Community. Privacy

The AIR MILES Community is a public forum, and as such members should be aware not to reveal any information within the Forums that they do not want made public. Posts that include personal information about members may be removed by AIR MILES Moderators, including full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. For more information on the AIR MILES Privacy Policy, click here

User Content

By posting Content to any part of the Community, you grant AIR MILES the right to use that Content in any other medium without notification or compensation. See the airmiles.ca website Terms & Conditions for more information.

Most of the Content posted in the Community is provided by Members and as such is the responsibility of the individual Member posting the content. AIR MILES does not control, and is not responsible for, this content. Furthermore, AIR MILES does not check this content for accuracy and as such information posted by Members may be inaccurate.
